Indiana Filmmakers Network

Mission Statement

The Indiana Filmmakers Network works to facilitate dialogue among film and video makers in the state of Indiana. We endeavor to foster a creative community that provides support, camaraderie and resources to those working to see their visions become reality. Our gatherings are open to all with Hoosier connections who wish to participate.

We envision the Network as a primary resource for film and video makers who work in Indiana, as a launching platform for creativity, and as a true network where all are considered equal, regardless of technical knowledge or commercial success.

The Indiana Filmmakers Network meets monthly at the Hamilton 16 IMAX Exit 10 off I-69. The meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Anyone interested in filmmaking is welcome.

Important Notice

IFN's Indianapolis Meeting in February has been moved from the 2nd Tuesday to the 3rd Tuesday, to avoid conflicting with Valentines Day. The meeting will be February 21st at 7PM. We will return to our usual 2nd Tuesday schedule in March. Please pass this info along.

Join the IFN-Bloomington group for an evening of networking and learning about the job of assistant director. Our guest, Brian Steward brings his vast experience for our learning pleasure.

Brian Steward is a 1984 graduate of Indiana University and currently a graduate student in the Telecommunications program. In between his undergraduate and graduate programs, he managed to squeeze in a career in the film industry as an Assistant Director, working on over 40 features and television series. His credits include The Italian Job, Spy Kids, Wild At Heart and Always. He enjoys telling stories about hearing Audrey Hepburn curse and how David Lean once thanked him profusely. Not on the same day, of course.

Members Help Create Super Bowl Entry

Indiana Film News

During the recent Super Bowl, Doritos held a contest which would allow the winner to air a Doritos commercial of their creation during the Super Bowl XLI broadcast.

Contestants were asked to make one or more thirty second commercials and submit them online. From the 1,066 entries, Doritos chose sixteen finalists. They then narrowed the field down to eight finalists and then five.

With the help of some IFN members and other talented people from the Indiana production community, the Herbert Brothers of Batesville submitted two commercials, titled "Ultimatum" and "Duct Tape." Both made the top eight! "Duct Tape" then made it into the top five!

Over the next couple of months, Doritos will be airing the top five commercials (including "Duct Tape") on various channels.

You can view the commercials online at:
http://www.transitfilms.com/doritos/

Congratulations to everyone involved in creating both of these top notch commercials.

Come out and join us for our inaugural meeting! As it is our first gathering, we'll mainly be doing a meet-and-greet, as well as going over some expectations and ideas for the year ahead.

The new Indiana Filmmakers Network Northwest Chapter serves the Northwest Region of Indiana, Lake County near Chicago.

The venue is easily accessible via 80/94 and Cline Avenue.

If you're even vaguely interested, come on out! We have a private room, and since it's not just a bar, you don't have to be 21 to join us.

Bring your friends and your ideas, and we'll have some fun!
